An anthology of children’s poetry, edited by Kath Wayman and Tina Lawlor Mottram. Published 2009, Rainham Poetry Group.

Funded by Awards for All, the brief as to encourage contributions from the community in order to publish a collection of poems. Co-edited by Kath Wayman and Tina Lawlor Mottram, organising parent and child writing workshops at Chatham Library. Tina also ran a parent and child art and writing workshop at Gillingham Library. Several Medway schools had a full day’s workshop with the editors, which produced a wealth of written and visual work. Parents who attended were encouraged to try their hand at writing on themes and in the relaxed atmosphere of Medway Libraries, there was a lot of hilarity and enjoyment. Inspiration could be located all around them on the shelves of the library and children really enjoyed the sessions. They also visited a selection of Medway schools to get children writing for the book. Many children illustrated their poems and read them aloud in class.
The launch of the book at Chatham Library saw children reading their own poems holding the book. Very exciting for everybody! The book is available to by from Terry Godwin, Chair of the Rainham Poetry Group. Copies of the book have been given to Medway Libraries and also to local schools, where volunteers are letting children read poems in reading practice.
