A Medway Sanctuary 2008
A collaboration of 25 Medway artists, resulting in a limited edition book, individually worked on by each artist and writer.
Edited by David Wise, all work had to be in black and white. The book was delivered to each artist’s door with only the previous artist’s work available to view. Like a Chinese Whispers in book form, each of us embraced a theme suggested by the previous artist. The grand finale was unveiled on Chatham waterfront. Limited edition of copies published were sold, with a book launch bonfire on Chatham riverside.
My pages were preceded by Rachel Noxon, whose drawings I found eerie, dreamlike with shadowy trunks of trees and possibly avenues of moonlit pathways or crowds of people… I worked on a collage of the World Tree, as a connection to the heavens, the earth and rooted in the Underworld.
