These articles describe plants that can be foraged from your backyard and they are aimed at the US market, hence the US spelling. However, I often specify that these plants grow in many locations and making the remedies is possible anywhere. You can make Dandelion Tonic Amish style or upcoming posts that will include remedies from gorse, stinging nettle and other free plants often described as weeds…

Writer for Ask a Prepper and The Lost Herbs

Introduction

A “Prepper” is somebody who is prepared for the worst case scenario, and often lives the homesteader lifestyle for environmental, financial or personal reasons.
SHTF means S*** hits the fan and this can mean natural disasters such as floods, fires or volcanoes, a pandemic like recently, a situation such as the war in Ukraine which affected food supply and the political turmoil that ensured or any other natural or human disaster.

I write for many websites about growing food, which is part of being a prepper. Being more sustainable is super important for me. So here a few links to articles I have written for AskAPrepper.com.

Flattered? Yes, but small payment for using my name? No thanks ….

To anybody else who writes for a living, this is a question for you. Recently I was approached on a website where I frequently work and invited to be a ghostwriter for a website. It was flattering because my experience is obvious and they wanted to make me a small payment to use my name, and then allow some cheaper writer to submit articles in my name.

I don’t know how other experienced writers feel about this or if this a frequent experience for you all. Has this happened to you? How did you react? Are you in favour of this type of approach and more particularly, are you ok with another writer penning articles under your name?

This is definitely the conundrum of the “Ghostwriter”. My own feeling was “No thanks. I prefer to actually check any articles with my name on them.”

However, I am really happy ghostwriting non-fiction work for anybody and I sign NDAs and stick to them. I guess my issue is that in the future, this website could publish anything with my name attached and I would have no way to refute it if the payment had been made.

Let me know any experience or thoughts on this. Is this practice common? Do you think you would accept it or not and why?

#LettersToPower

Extinction Rebellion time again folks!

Local stone collected and arranged in a calendar circle, echoing the colours found in Maya manuscripts, showing cardinal directions.

To those who carve out fortunes by exploiting the poor, shame on you.
To Exxon, Shell and multinational exploiters of the planet, annual growth is not a necessity.
To those who walk the streets, protesting about your politicians’ lack of action, good on you.
To those working with the poor, the sick, the needy, I applaud you.
To those struggling to stay alive on minimum wage, I say join us.
To those well-paid and comfortable, look further and see what you can do.
To those who compost their waste daily, buy ethically, you have my respect.
To the cyclists, the walkers, doing so on purpose each day, I am with you each rainy day.
To the supporters of a fairer world, where greed is not the norm, this I wish for every day.
To those who believe we must change, but yesterday, today will have to do.
To those who climb trees to stop HS2, every bird alive sings with you.
To a crying, polluted Earth, we meditate with you.
